Dr. Álvaro Colino Castro earned his medical degree from the Complutense University of Madrid between 2000 and 2006, with a cumulative GPA of 2.39 and two honors.
During the 2005–2006 academic year, he received the Community of Madrid Excellence Scholarship to conduct research projects in experimental medicine at the Gregorio Marañón University General Hospital.
